Help the UK Opera Theatre Students visit NYC!

Dear New York City Alumni,

This fall the UK Opera Theatre will embark on its 3rd World Premiere in the past 4 years. UK Opera will partner with DiCapo Opera of New York to present the World Premiere of Thomas Pasatieri’s new opera GOD BLESS US EVERYONE. Taken from the beloved Christmas writing of Charles Dickens, the story takes place 20 years after the events of A Christmas Carol; Scrooge has just died and everyone is two decades older. Tiny Tim has moved from England to the New World. If A Christmas Carol was ultimately a story of redemption, Tim, in God Bless Us Everyone, learns the lesson of forgiveness. Be prepared for some surprises. The opera will be presented from December 16-19, 2010 at the DiCapo Opera Theatre. The cast will be half DiCapo Opera professionals and half UK Opera Theatre students.

This exciting adventure will require student housing accommodations in New York City for several UK students, and the UK Opera Program would like to ask alumni to consider assisting with this need. Ways to support include:
Provide housing for one or two UK Opera students for as many evenings as possible November 29 – December 20. There will be a total of four female and two male vocalists.
Provide housing for one or two UK Orchestra students and staff for as many evenings as possible from December 12 – 20. There will be a total of 12 student orchestra members and five staff.
Help fund hotel stays for each student at $250 per day per student, if alumni housing is not available.
Attend the production (ticket information will be sent at a later date)
If you are able to assist in any of the above ways, please contact Joan Rue at (859) 257-9331, and she will be able to provide additional details.

I hope you will also take a look at our Web site at www.ukoperatheatre.org to learn more about the UK Opera Program and other exciting productions being presented on campus.

Best regards,

Everett McCorvey, D.M.A. Director and Executive Producer of UK Opera Theatre
